Once upon a time, in the leafy suburbs of Surrey and South West London, two childhood friends attended Hinchley Wood Secondary School together. Their names were Len Taylor and Sam Kamali, and they shared a dream of one day running their own business together. After finishing school, Sam trained to be a fireman, while Len worked for his father's estate agency.
During his time as a negotiator, Len learned the skills required to convince his best friend to join him in a career within the property industry. Sam eventually joined him, and they worked for various independent and corporate firms across Surrey and South West London before finally opening Newton Huxley in October 2014.
Due to a lack of start-up capital and an over-ambitious attitude, their first office wasn't on the high street but in Belhaven House in East Molesey, above a pet shop. There, they worked 7 days a week with just a phone and laptop until they had established Newton Huxley as a market-leading agent in Molesey and the surrounding area. This proved that the service clients were receiving was driving the reputation of the business as opposed to a large marketing budget and a network of high street offices that other agents relied upon to attract clients.
In 2017, Newton Huxley expanded into Claygate Village and opened another office in Torrington House on Hare Lane. By this time, their team had grown from 2 to 6 as more and more homeowners and landlords chose to trust Newton Huxley with their properties.
After two rollercoaster years wrestling with an up-and-down market, the opportunity came to purchase a local competitor in Claygate Village, Catling & Company. This acquisition doubled the client base of landlords that Newton Huxley was responsible for, and with this deal came a move to the main High Street in Claygate that highlighted a very important factor that would change the company forever.
Whilst buyers and tenants didn't care if there was a high street office or not, local sellers and landlords did, and Newton Huxley's market share in Claygate Village doubled within 6 months as a result of being more visible to the general public. This then inspired a move for the Molesey office from Belhaven House to Bridge Road in Hampton Court in 2020.
Today, Newton Huxley is now a firm market leader across three postcodes: KT8, KT10, and KT7, thanks to the support of the local community and their ability to deliver on what they say they will do, which is to provide the best guidance and advice to their clients. They have come a long way from their humble beginnings above a pet shop and now have two high street offices, a team of dedicated professionals, and a growing reputation for excellence in the industry.
Here's to another decade of helping people move in what they believe are some of the greatest places to live in the South East. Len and Sam's childhood dream has become a reality, and together with their team, continue to provide exceptional service to their clients every day.
